The handpan, initially known as the “Hang”, which means “hand” in Bernese German, is a group of convex steel pan instruments with a wide variety of notes and octaves to play. It originated in Bern, Switzerland, in 2001, and has since become very popular in Europe and North America for its ethereal sound effects.
